Your essentials for starting to play golf

The maximum number of clubs allowed in a golf bag is 14. Those of us who have been playing for a long time sometimes wish we could carry an extra club in the bag. The beginner, on the other hand, wonders: why so many clubs?
Each golf club has different characteristics depending on its design, length, loft, or shaft material. The combination of all these results in different distances, ball height, or spin, among others.
An advanced player, with a medium-low handicap, will carry all 14 available clubs in their bag. However, if your goal is to start discovering golf, you only need 4 clubs. The investment, in this case, is minimal. Taking advantage of good offers, you can get your set for less than €100.
From the Willy Golf team, we recommend you start with a 3 or 5 Wood, a 7 iron, a sand wedge (56º), and a putter. With these clubs, you can start to cover all distances.
- 3 or 5 Wood. This is the longest club and will give you the most distance. Use it for your tee shot or to gain distance down the fairway.
- 7 Iron. This is an intermediate club, use it for medium-distance shots towards the green.
- Sand wedge (56º). This is a club for short distances. It is used around the green or for approach shots.
- Putter. Used on the green. With this club, we will get the ball to roll into the hole.
