El driver te da la gloria y el putt la victoria

The driver gives you glory, and the putt gives you victory.

Many golfers train their swing on the driving range. They dedicate all their practice time to improving their technique or trying to hit the ball harder. Most players who go for a lesson ask the instructor to work on their swing at the driving range. But what about putting?

It's curious that the putter is the club in the bag that is least practiced. It's true that it's a short shot and means we are close to the hole, but it's just as important, if not more so, than other shots. Holes are divided into 3 options according to their design:

  • Par 3: One shot to the green and 2 putts.
  • Par 4: Two shots to the green and 2 putts.
  • Par 5: Three shots to the green and 2 putts.

In fact, on a Par 72 course, if we play to par and as designed, 36 strokes are made with the putter.

Understanding this, we encourage you to spend more time on the putting green. There are many types of exercises to practice distances, reading breaks, or the putting stroke. For the swing, we recommend working with an alignment mirror. The mirror will help you see your position over the ball, aligning your eye closest to the hole, directly above the ball. Additionally, the lines drawn on the mirror will guide the putter's movement to achieve a straighter impact.
